In November 2012, Star TV Network (India) sought to re-launch their star sports channels with 21st Century Fox acquiring the ESPN stake. The challenge was to create a monolithic identity that signalled change and built a sports culture beyond cricket by redefining Indian sports broadcasting.
The 'Star Sports' brand needed to denote change, assert leadership and create involvement, and was approached keeping this philosophy in focus. The 'metallic star' is sharp, bringing strength and authority. The dynamic swoosh lights up the world it lives in and everything it touches. It makes the brand feel sporty, young, energetic and dramatic while ‘inspiring the star in you’.
Star Sports is India’s leading sports network and among Asia’s top five; efforts grew the Mumbai team from 50 to 1,500+ and now operates 25 TV networks and 3 sporting networks in 5 languages throughout Asia.
